Community Guidelines

To ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time on Nature Precedings, here are some ground rules.

Do

  • Be yourself: Be honest in representing yourself, your findings and your views. Please use your real and full name when creating a profile to submit documents, comments or links.
  • Submit appropriate material: Please send us high-quality documents that you believe will be of genuine interest to other scientists. Only submit material that covers basic research (clinical medical findings will not be accepted). Within those constraints, please upload everything that you are willing to share with your fellow scientists.
  • Be factual and accurate: Especially in comments, express your opinions and support them with facts (accurate ones, that is). If you find factual errors, point them out, and make sure you can back up what you say. If you're citing something, give a reference for it.
  • Enjoy yourself: Science is fun. The web is fun. So Nature Precedings should be one of the best places around. But only you can make it that way.

Don't

  • Try to promote your submissions directly, for example by asking friends or colleagues to post supportive comments or vote for your contributions.
  • Be inflammatory or profane: We encourage debate and even vigorous argument, but before you submit a comment, take a moment to ask yourself: "Would I say this in person?" Don't be offensive or libellous.
  • Post other people's content: Before you upload anything to Nature Precedings, please make sure that all of it is yours. Do not include items (e.g., figures or screenshots) for which the copyright is owned by other people.
  • Sell stuff: If you have a product or service to sell, don't put it in a document or comment. Instead, please contact us to talk about advertising it properly.

Since we're ultimately responsible for the usefulness of this site, we reserve the right to refuse or remove any content that contravenes these guidelines or otherwise works agains the aims of Nature Precedings.
