Abstract:

The tools developed to work with an expanding number of biomedical ontologies are all directed “inward,” back toward the scientists. The Semantic Web is an effort to assign meaning to data available on the internet resulting in a universal platform of knowledge exchange. For the Open Biomedical Ontologies to become a part of the Semantic Web, a more “outward-looking” tool is required. A prototype, AmiGA, based on 21 ontologies with over 600,000 terms,
has been constructed.
